It has been raining continuously in Afghanistan for two weeks.
More than 315 people have died due to heavy rains in Afghanistan for two weeks. Taliban officials say the death toll may still increase. According to American media CNN, the World Food Program (WFP) reported on May 12 that the maximum damage has occurred in Badakhshan, Ghor, Baghlan and Herat.
Due to heavy rains, 1600 people are injured and more than 2000 houses have been washed away. WFP said in a social media post that flash floods devastated Afghanistan. The maximum number of deaths have occurred in Baghlan.
More than 100 people are injured in Baghlan. Officials say that the road leading to Baghlan has been washed away, due to which there is a delay in providing relief there. Army has been sent to evacuate people from there.

Air Force was sent to help
The Taliban’s Defense Ministry said on May 11 that the Air Force had been deployed to evacuate people in Baghlan. Meanwhile, the Taliban government of Afghanistan has asked international organizations to help without delay. According to the Taliban, if organizations do not help, thousands of people will die.
According to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), there is an emergency like situation in most of the states of Afghanistan. Different emergency teams are engaged in relief work.
IRC Director Salma Ben Aissa said that this flood has caused a humanitarian crisis. The people of Afghanistan were already facing the brunt of the earthquake that occurred earlier this year. But now the floods have pushed them further into poverty.
There is no electricity in many states of Afghanistan for two weeks. People do not have the resources to buy one meal. Last month itself, nine people died when houses collapsed due to heavy rains and floods in Helmand and Kajaki districts of Afghanistan.
