The Austrian Grand Prix returned to the MotoGP calendar in 2016 after an absence of almost two decades and quickly became a highlight for fans and paddock members alike. In 2016 and 2019, the Austrian GP was named the best race weekend of the year.

“Anyone who loves motorsport also loves MotoGP. This class embodies racing in its purest form,” says Red Bull boss Mark Mateschitz. “When the best drivers in the world duel and change positions several times per lap, no one can stay in their seats. Once you have experienced the enthusiasm of the fans here at the Red Bull Ring, you can’t get enough of it. I am therefore very pleased that we can keep this great event for the fans in Austria and Styria for the long term.”
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP promoter Dorna, is also delighted: “We are very happy to announce that the Austrian Grand Prix will remain on the MotoGP calendar until 2030. The Red Bull Ring is not only one of the most beautiful race tracks in the world, it also delivers an incredible weekend for fans with fantastic infrastructure, great entertainment and spectacular racing. Some of the most iconic moments in our sport have taken place here.”

Since its return to the racing calendar in 2016, over a million fans have flocked to the MotoGP at the Red Bull Ring. Last year there were 173,017. In 2024, the Austrian Grand Prix will take place from August 16 to 18.
