Maverick Vinales was the fastest man in MotoGP’s 2nd free practice session at Le Mans. He is followed by five Ducati riders.
The result: Vinales was 0.072 seconds faster in 1:31.033 minutes than Francesco Bagnaia, who led a Ducati quintet including Enea Bastianini, Jorge Martin, Alex Marquez and Marc Marquez. Aleix Espargaro, Jack Miller, Raul Fernandez and Franco Morbidelli finished behind them.
Pedro Acosta took eleventh place, Fabio Quartararo was 14th. Brad Binder and Marco Bezzecchi didn’t get past places 16 and 17. However, they were only six tenths of a second short of the best time.
Falls, defects & incidents: Alex Marquez caused the first MotoGP crash of the day after just under ten minutes. He hit the curb on the outside of the double right-hander at Turn 8 and slipped. A harmless crash after Marquez was no longer able to start his Ducati and had to be brought back to the pits on the scooter.
The weather: As on Friday, Le Mans presented itself at its best. Under a cloudless sky, the outside temperature was 19 degrees and the asphalt was 26 degrees.
