Dream goal from Griezmann: France wins European Championship dress rehearsal :: DFB

Germany’s opening opponent France was defeated in the last test before the UEFA EURO 2020 (June 11th to July 11th) lived up to its role as favorite. The world champion beat Bulgaria 3-0 (1-0), but returnee Karim Benzema from Real Madrid was substituted in the 41st minute with problems on his right thigh.

The French, who started with Bayern professionals Benjamin Pavard, Lucas Hernandez and Corentin Tolisso, took the lead with an overhead kick through Antoine Griezmann in the 29th minute. The French continued to dominate the game and in the end they even had 20:1 shots. In the final phase, Olivier Giroud (83rd and 90th), who came on for Karim Benzema, scored the second and third goals.

Hungary scoreless against Ireland

Germany’s group opponents Hungary, led by Willi Orban and Peter Gulacsi from Leipzig, drew 0-0 with Ireland, who did not qualify for the European Championship, at the Ferenc Szusza Stadium in Budapest. Hungary is now unbeaten in eleven international matches (seven wins, four draws).

Ireland’s John Egan hit the crossbar at the start (9′), while on the other side Hungary’s captain Adam Szalai from Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 05 was denied twice by guest keeper Gavin Bazunu (39′ and 55′).
