However, the collapse of the currently most successful racing team in the premier class, as predicted by some of the competition, does not seem to be happening. On Friday it was announced that Red Bull chief engineer Paul Monaghan has signed a long-term contract extension with the Bulls. This was according to a report by racingnews365 out.
Extension at Red Bull: Monaghan also follows technical director Pierre Wache
The extension comes just a few weeks after Red Bull’s technical director Pierre Wache also signed a long-term contract extension. Wache’s deal runs until 2028. It is not known how many years Monaghan’s contract will run for.
According to consistent information, further contract extensions of important Red Bull technicians are likely to follow. These include the head of the performance engineering department Ben Waterhouse and sports director Jonathan Wheatley.
It is generally unusual for the contract extensions of employees of Formula 1 teams to be made public. However, given the countless rumors that have arisen around the racing team in recent months, Red Bull has an interest in highlighting the preservation of the team’s structure.
Part of Red Bull’s dogma since Newey’s departure has been that his role has been increasingly distributed across several shoulders in recent years. Newey has increasingly withdrawn from the day-to-day running of the Milton Keynes-based team. It is difficult to judge from the outside how big his contribution is to the team’s current success.
