In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Manoj revealed his past differences with Hansal Mehta and how it affected him.

Manoj Bajpayee regrets his rift with Hansal Mehta
Manoj expressed regret over his differences with Hansal in the early days of the conflict. He recalled how he felt when protesters threw ink on the filmmaker. The actor said, ‘It was a difficult time for all of us. My career was going away from me, a career which I had got after a lot of hard work. Many other people came into this project, some because of me, some because of Hansal. After that the situation was not good. Yes, you feel bad, but I’m not the kind of person who lets arguments affect me. What I feel bad about is that Hansal had to go through that protest and people put ink on his face. When it happened, he didn’t know it, I went to my bathroom and cried. How could this happen to a person like him? No matter what, Hansal has always been very supportive of me. When his mother died, I was heartbroken because she used to feed me. Whenever I used to go to her i.e. Hansal Mehta’s house, the first thing she used to do was bring food in front of me and think that she might not have eaten the food.

Manoj Bajpayee spoke on friendship with Hansal Mehta
Manoj further said, ‘Even if you are strong, after a time you can break. Because of what happened, we started shouting at each other. But if you ask me today, I am not taking it. It was all part of the journey that we went through, whether it was Hansal and I, whether it was Anurag Kashyap and I or it was Ramu (Ram Gopal Varma) and I. There have been many results among us. But my only problem was that my emotions were more than anger. I used to take it out in anger. This hurt my friends more. If I cried in front of him, he didn’t feel bad but my emotions always came out in the form of anger. Therefore, whenever I vented out my anger, the other person became completely disappointed.
