Actually, an X user named ‘Sonu Nigam Singh’ tweeted about BJP’s defeat in Ayodhya. In this tweet, he wrote – ‘The government that made the whole of Ayodhya shine, gave a new airport, railway station, built the Ram temple after 500 years, created an entire temple economy, that party is struggling for the Ayodhya seat. Shameful to the people of Ayodhya!’ After seeing this tweet made from a verified account, many users targeted singer Sonu Nigam.

Why was Sonu Nigam surprised?
Talking to Hindustan Times, singer Sonu Nigam said, ‘I wonder why those who mistook him for me, including news channels, did not check their basic common sense by reading the details of that ex’s account. His person has written Sonu Nigam Singh on his handle and in his details he has written that he is a criminal lawyer.’

He further said, ‘This is exactly the kind of filth that forced me to leave Twitter seven years ago. I do not believe in making any sensational political comments and I focus only on my work. But this incident is worrying not only for me but also for the safety of my family.’
People are getting misled by using my surname
He mentioned the criminal lawyer from Bihar, whose tweets made people criticize him. The singer said that this is not the first time this has happened. My fans and some well-wishers have often been sending him screenshots of Sonu Nigam Singh’s tweets. Sonu Nigam further said that my team reached out to him and insisted that he correct the name of his handle so that there is no confusion among people. Because millions of people are being misled by the use of my surname. He said that I am sure that we will find a way to fix it.
