New Delhi. Anurag Kashyap is one of those few stars of the film industry who freely express their opinion on every issue. This filmmaker has many times expressed his opinion on the decreasing creativity in the industry. In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap once again made serious allegations against Bollywood filmmakers and said that here the focus is only on making money, emphasis is not being given on telling a good story.
In an interview to ‘Humans of Cinema’, Anurag Kashyap said that there is a creative crisis in the Hindi film industry. He explained how the commercial success of a film affects the story. The filmmaker says, ‘I have often seen that the commercial success of a film causes more losses and less profit. When ‘Sairat’ earned 100 crores, I had told my friend and film director Nagraj Manjule that now Marathi films will come to an end.’
‘Industry does not benefit from earnings…’
According to the director, when a film earns very well, all the filmmakers start focusing on the earnings of the film instead of the quality of the story. Anurag Kashyap further says, ‘The problem with our Hindi film industry is that now instead of making good films, everyone just wants to earn 500-600 crores. For that, you first have to make changes in your films and sacrifice your story.’
Hindi films accused of copying
The filmmaker further says, ‘Now everyone wants to make a pan India film. If you watch 10 pan India films, you will notice that all the films are the same. This never benefits the film industry. One or two films will do very well and then everyone will copy it and then everything will flop in no time.’
Anurag Kashyap has given many great films and web series to Bollywood. He has directed films like ‘Black Friday’, ‘Dev D’, ‘Gulaal’, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’.
