Karachi – The 2024 Iqbal Day Celebration Badminton Tournament concluded successfully at the National Coaching Center in Karachi, showcasing remarkable athleticism and competitive spirit. Organized with the support of World Athlon, the tournament brought together skilled athletes from across Pakistan to commemorate Iqbal Day and celebrate sportsmanship. In a thrilling finale, Muhammad Ali Asif emerged victorious in the men’s singles, while Abiya claimed the women’s singles title.

The closing ceremony was led by Imran Yusuf, Director of the National Coaching Center, who presented trophies and prizes to the winners. Faiza Ahmed, Chief Executive of World Athlon, graced the event alongside other prominent attendees, including Mohammad Ahmed, CEO of Fine Arts Pakistan, Tahira Ahmed, and Asma Ahmed. The presence of Ghulam Abbas Zaboli Mahdiabadi, the Deputy Consul General of Iran, added an international dimension to the event, fostering a spirit of sports diplomacy.

Notable Performances and Winners

In the men’s singles, Muhammad Ali Asif took the championship title, defeating a strong field of competitors. Muhammad Bilal of Rahim Yar Khan finished as the runner-up. The doubles matches were equally exciting. In the men’s doubles, Osama Malik and Ahmad Zia from Physical Education emerged as champions, with Hamza Ishtiaq and Muhammad Ali Asif from IOBM taking the runner-up position. The women’s doubles title was claimed by Abiya and Najma Ghiyas from Alpha Education Network, while Tanzeela and Zahra secured the runner-up spot.
