The 500 miles of Indianapolis, also known as Indy 500 is the annual highlight in the racing calendar of the US IndyCar series. In 2024, the oval race will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 108th time since its debut in 1911. The Indy 500 attracts around 400,000 spectators to the track every year and is one of the largest individual sporting events in the world.
The 108th Indy 500 will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2024. The race starts at 12:45 p.m. local time. Due to the six-hour time difference, the race begins at 6:45 p.m. German time. The Indianapolis 500 covers a distance of 200 laps of 4.023 kilometers each. This corresponds to a total distance of 804.672 kilometers and around three hours of driving time to the finish line.

Where is the 2024 Indy 500 on TV today?
In Germany, Sky will broadcast the Indy 500 live and in full. The pay-TV channel will show all races of the IndyCar championship in 2024. Sky subscribers can watch the race via ‘Sky Q’ using a receiver via satellite or cable. Fans can also follow the Indy 500 without a traditional receiver via the Sky live stream ‘WOW’.
Sky will begin its TV broadcast of the Indy 500 on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 6:15 p.m. and will probably broadcast until 10:00 p.m. On Sky Sport 2 HD, the broadcast will start at 5:00 p.m. with preliminary coverage.
The Indy 500 begins after the Formula 1 race in Monaco – motorsport fans can therefore look forward to a jam-packed racing weekend, which is completed by the MotoGP in Barcelona, DTM at the Lausitzring, Formula E in Shanghai and NASCAR (Charlotte).
Sky will also show the Indy 500 exclusively on pay TV in Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.

There is no way to watch the Indianapolis 500 on German free TV. The broadcast via IndyCar’s own live stream called ‘IndyCar Live’ is also not possible in this country for rights reasons. In the USA, NBC is the official TV partner.
