Toprak Razgatlioglu dominates race 2 in Misano and extends his World Championship lead

Toprak Razgatlioglu also wins the third race in Misano! After a bad start to the race, the BMW driver had to fight his way back to the top from sixth place. But he was already back in second place on the first lap. He then wrestled Nicolo Bulega down and drove dominantly to victory.

As on the previous day, Nicolo Bulega and Alvaro Bautista ensured a double podium for the Ducatisti at their home race in Misano. Alex Lowes finished fourth, ahead of Andrea Locatelli. Danilo Petrucci and Axel Bassani crossed the line behind them.

Razgatlioglu is continuing to expand in the drivers’ championship. He now leads the world championship by 21 points ahead of Nicolo Bulega, who is now second. World champion Alvaro Bautista is a further three points behind.

Begin: Bulega wins the start! Iannone and Lowes keep up and take second and third places. Razgatlioglu has dropped to fifth place behind Locatelli.

1 round: Iannone makes a mistake and goes wide in turn ten. Locatelli and Razgatlioglu slip through. In turn 15, Razgatlioglu pushes past Lowes and is back in second place.

2nd round: Bulega is putting on a lot of pressure at the front and has already moved ahead by over a second. Razgatlioglu is now starting to catch up. Alvaro Bautista has also already reached fifth place.

4th round: The top three are pulling away, Bautista has overtaken Locatelli, but is already more than a second behind Alex Lowes.

5th round: The gap between Bulega and Razgatlioglu is 1.5 seconds. Both are at the same level.

6th round: Bulega and Razgatlioglu are in a league of their own, both driving times in the low 33s. The gap is now more than a second. Razgatlioglu is coming!

7th round: Technical problems for Domi Aegerter. The Swiss driver is out of the race with engine failure, just like yesterday. What bad luck.

8th round: Razgatlioglu flies close to Bulega and has closed the gap to 0.6 seconds. Alex Lowes in third place is now five seconds behind.

9th round: Overtaking maneuver! Razgatlioglu makes short work of it and brakes past in turn eight. Bulega tries to counterattack, but fails.

11th round:Meanwhile, Xavi Vierge crashed at turn eight.

12th round: Razgatlioglu has brought the gap under control. A duel for third place is developing between Alvaro Bautista and Alex Lowes. Locatelli also still has a chance of making the podium.

13th round: Bautista passes! He overtakes Lowes in turn 13 and is now in third place.

16th round: Razgaltioglu can no longer be stopped, he is more than three seconds ahead of Bulega. The latter will also probably not be able to take second place, Bautista is in third place, more than seven seconds behind him.

17th round: The Italian duel for sixth place is between Axel Bassani and Danilo Petrucci. Locatelli in fifth place launches a final attack on Lowes and Bautista.

18th round: Petrucci overtakes Bassani in turn two and is now sixth.

22nd round: Wildcard driver Michele Pirro crashes but remains uninjured.

Finish line: Toprak Razgatlioglu wins! He takes three race wins for BMW in one WSBK weekend for the first time. Nicolo Bulega is second again, ahead of Alvaro Bautista, who beat Alex Lowes and Andrea Locatelli. Danilo Petrucci beats Axel Bassani and Remy Gardner, Iker Lecuona and Jonathan Rea complete the top 10.
