The premier class stops in the Principality: The eighth race of the Formula 1 takes place in the prestigious Monaco. Last year’s winner Max Verstappen wants to continue his series. What role does the weather play? Here is the complete weather forecast for the Grand Prix in Monaco.
Friday (FP1 and FP2):
The media day on Thursday took place in pouring rain at times. The weather continues to be unsettled. Training Friday (no longer training Thursday since 2022) in Monaco starts partly cloudy, partly sunny. However, just in time for the first free practice session at 1:30 p.m., the weather becomes unsettled. Light thunderstorms and a 90 percent chance of rain could make the streets of Monaco slippery.
Things are looking a little better for the second 60 minutes of training on the 3.337 kilometer long Circuit de Monaco. The chance of rain varies between 35 percent (5:00 p.m.) and 75 percent (6:00 p.m.). The sky will remain overcast, but there should be no more thunderstorms. The temperature is a cool 19 degrees all day.
Saturday (FP3 and Qualifying):
After a (presumably) rainy training Friday, the weather forecast for Saturday looks brighter. Again it is around 20 degrees in the principality. The sky is expected to be slightly cloudy during the third free practice session, which starts at 12:30 p.m. However, the chance of rain is 10 percent, significantly lower than the day before.
It’s a bit tighter for qualifying at 4 p.m. (thanks to the European race, all on German time). Clouds and a current chance of rain of 15 – 18 percent are forecast for what is probably the most important session of the entire weekend.
Attention: The weather forecast for Sunday in particular should be viewed with caution due to the large time difference. Thanks to the changeable Mediterranean weather, the weather in the principality can change quickly.
