These seven races will be broadcast LIVE on free TV

Formula 1 is back on German free TV. RTL will broadcast seven races with qualifying in the 2024 season, as well as five more qualifying sessions or sprints. But which ones exactly? The overview.

In 2024, the Formula 1 has returned to German free TV. Thanks to a two-year partnership with the pay broadcaster Sky, which also exclusively owns the full television rights to Formula 1 in Germany this year, RTL will broadcast a total of seven races on free TV in the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Also present: The commentary crew already known from previous days. Races, qualifying and sprints will be commented on by Heiko Wasser and expert Christian Danner. Florian König will moderate, supported by Laura Papendick. Kai Ebel is another experienced driver in the paddock.

The season opener in Bahrain was already broadcast by the TV station from Cologne. In the further course of the season there are six more Grand Prix weekends on which RTL will broadcast both the Qualifying as well as the Run will be broadcast live on free TV.

But that’s not all. RTL will also broadcast Formula 1 on free TV on five more weekends, at least on Saturdays – either the sprint or the qualifying. Regardless of this, the former sole ruler among German TV channels in Formula 1 will broadcast the qualifying or the sprint every weekend via its own streaming provider RTL+. In contrast to the free TV offering, however, this is subject to a fee.
