Skoda currently has only one fully electric vehicle in its range, called the Enyaq. The electric car is very popular on the market, with 23,498 units registered according to the KBA in Germany, making the Czech car third in the 2023 registration statistics for electric cars. Skoda does not want to rest on its laurels, but wants to attract even more customers to this segment with a second electric vehicle in the near future. The new fully electric model will again be an SUV, but at 4.50 meters long it will be slightly smaller than the Enyaq and, according to Skoda, will be the fully electrified counterpart of the Karoq. The basis for the new Elroq is the Volkswagen Group’s “Modular Electrification Kit” (MEB). The manufacturer has not yet revealed what the exact drive trains will look like.

With the introduction of the Elroq, Skoda’s design language will also change, which was already evident in studies such as the Vision S7 Concept or the Epiq. The manufacturer has named the design “Modern Solid”, which is particularly due to the new “Tech-Deck Face” front. Parts of this can already be seen in the teaser video of the Elroq: split headlights characterize the front view. The upper section is narrower and extends seamlessly to the fenders. The Skoda lettering has been placed prominently on the hood. According to Skoda, the “Tech-Deck Face” is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional radiator grille with high recognition value and a flatter, wider design. In addition, large wheels underline the robust appearance. State-of-the-art LED matrix headlights are intended to complete the overall impression.

The world premiere of the new Skoda Elroq is scheduled for autumn 2024. This will make the electric car one of six new electric vehicles that will be presented over the next few years. In addition to a fully electric, smaller city SUV, a large, seven-seater XXL electric flagship SUV is also planned.
