Details of the incident on Tuesday were not initially known. Toyota will release further updates in due course. It remains unclear what condition Ogier and Landais are in and how exactly the road accident occurred.

The Toyota statement reads: “Seb and Vincent were involved in a road accident during the reconnaissance drive for Rally Poland and were taken for medical examination. We will provide further information in due course.”
The eighth round of the 2024 WRC season will take place in Poland this weekend. The rally has returned to the racing calendar for the first time since 2017. Toyota driver Ogier is about to start his fifth race of the season and is currently fourth in the world championship. The 40-year-old, who is not competing in all rally events this year, won in Croatia and Portugal and took second place at the Monte Carlo Rally.
Just over a week ago, Ogier and his wife Andrea Kaiser paid a private visit to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France. The rally superstar swapped a racing helmet with MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi, who was competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time.
