During his guest appearance at the Emilia-Romagna GP weekend, Sebastian Vettel clearly rejected Formula 1. While the German had recently kept a back door open, his fans now have little hope of his return. Our Formula 1 expert Christian Danner thinks: “He did something very sympathetic. He said: Formula 1 – I don’t think so.” Danner relieves Vettel of his final departure from the premier class.
Danner on Vettel: No longer in great demand
Sebastian Vettel not relevant to the F1 driver market? The rumor mill has been bubbling over the last few weeks and months because there are still a few seats available in Formula 1 for 2025. Another German who is always in conversation: Mick Schumacher. Danner also discusses what’s going on with him in the new ‘AvD Motorsport Magazine’. You can watch the whole episode here:
Danner spoke to Vettel himself at the weekend and got an unexpected impression of the four-time world champion: “When I saw him standing there and shook his hand, I thought to myself that he looked a bit pale and sunken. He hasn’t been bubbling and spraying like we’ve seen before and I hope he’s okay.”
Likewise, some of Vettel’s former colleagues were the first to ask him where his neck muscles were. The expert says: “You can train a lot. But I think the reality speaks for Sebastian clearly.”
“I hope that he finds that sense of well-being for himself, which is admittedly difficult to regain when you’re no longer behind the wheel. So that great feeling that you get when you drive a Formula 1 car. I give him my thanks “I have my fingers crossed, whatever he does – whether it’s motorsport or other leisure activities,” says the expert.
Emotional homage to Ayrton Senna – Danner: Vettel was great!
At the weekend, Danner was enthusiastic about the tribute that Sebastian Vettel paid to Ayrton with his show run in the old McLaren MP4/8, with which Senna celebrated his last victory in 1993: “That was great and that shows what a great guy Sebastian is This is someone who values the history of his own sport. That made me so happy and it was received worldwide – hugely in Brazil, of course – that someone finally noticed that the only true god of racing heaven is called Ayrton Senna .”

“I also found it very appropriate how Sebastian did it. All you can say is: Thank you very much, Sebastian Vettel, for starting the campaign here and following through so consistently,” ex-racing driver Danner said directly to Vettel.
