Marquez was subsequently penalized by the MotoGP stewards just two hours after the end of the race. The reason? The Gresini rider did not comply with the prescribed minimum tire pressure in the front tire and thus violated Article 2.4.4.9 of the MotoGP regulations.
Marc Marquez loses fourth place in Assen: Only tenth after time penalty
The result is a time penalty of 16 seconds, which will be added to Marc Marquez’s race result. He had originally finished the Dutch TT in fourth place after taking advantage of a driving error by Maverick Vinales in the final meters. However, the time penalty means he loses fourth place and falls back to tenth position.
For the Spaniard, this represents a major setback in the fight for the MotoGP World Championship title in 2024. With his two main rivals Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin finishing the Dutch TT in the first two places, Marquez is now 48 points behind defending champion Bagnaia and 58 points behind World Championship leader Martin.
