Noah Dettwiler is still waiting for his Moto3 breakthrough. In the World Championship, the rookie is still only in 24th place, with two points from the US Grand Prix in Texas. A week ago in Barcelona, Dettwiler said that he had lost the feeling for his bike and never really got into the weekend. Seven days later, the result doesn’t really look any better, but the CIP Green Power rider is relieved: the feeling is back.
In terms of results, the Italian Grand Prix was just as modest as the Catalonia Grand Prix a week ago. Dettwiler only qualified in 26th and last place on the grid. “It was a difficult weekend, not much better than in Barcelona,” explained Dettwiler when asked by Motorsport-Magazin.com after the race. In the Moto3 race, which had to be stopped after four laps due to a collision, the Swiss rider finished in 20th place.

Nevertheless, Dettwiler also draws positive conclusions after the Grand Prix in Tuscany. The hole he had to escape from has been overcome. “Of course we didn’t have a fantastic race, but I got the feeling for the duels and fast driving back. It was a solid race if we look at the whole weekend. In terms of lap times, we were able to make a big step forward in the race,” said the 19-year-old.
The Moto3 race, which was shortened to 11 laps after the red flag, naturally brought a lot of hecticness to the field. Dettwiler saw this discipline – asserting himself in hectic situations in one-on-one battles – as one of his weaknesses in previous races. “Before the red flag, I had a good start and was able to overtake a few riders. And things continued well after the interruption. It was a bit more hectic, of course, but that was okay,” he said.
However, setup changes were not responsible for the returning feeling of Tom Lüthi’s protégé. “The setup was identical to qualifying. To be honest, I have no idea how I managed it, I just tried to ride better and didn’t study around too much. That way I was able to make a step.” Due to the cancellation or postponement of the Kazakhstan Grand Prix, the motorcycle world championship is taking a three-week break. The eighth race of the season is scheduled for June 28-30 in Assen. “We have to analyse everything during the break and then make sure that we start in Assen where we left off today,” announced Dettwiler.
