Jorge Martin looks like the winner for a long time in the MotoGP race at the Sachsenring. He leads the race until the penultimate lap, but then falls under pressure from Francesco Bagnaia in turn one and has to give up. Bagnaia snatches the win. Marc Marquez races back from 13th place on the grid to second place. Alex Marquez is on the podium for the first time with his brother in third place. Stefan Bradl comes 18th.
Bagnaia takes the lead in the World Championship, ten points ahead of Martin. Marc Marquez is in third place, 56 points behind.

Begin: Martin gets off to a good start from pole position and is first into turn one. Behind him are Miguel Oliveira, Francesco Bagnaia, Alex Marquez, Franco Morbidelli and Raul Fernandez. Marc Marquez makes up four positions from 13th place on the grid.
1 round: Bagnaia overtakes Oliveira in the final corner and is now second.
2nd round: Bagnaia repeats the maneuver from lap 1 and also catches Martin in the final corner – Bagnaia leads!
Marc Marquez overtakes Bastianini and is already eighth.
3rd round: Morbidelli takes Oliveira in Turn 1 and gives Ducati a one-two-three lead.
5th round: Oliveira is falling further behind. He has lost fourth place to Alex Marquez.
Marc Marquez passes Raul Fernandez and is seventh.
7th round: Martin takes back the lead! He outbrakes Bagnaia in turn one.
Maverick Vinales goes off the track and drops from P6 to 18, Marc Marquez moves up to sixth place.
9th round: Morbidelli follows his teammate Martin’s example and outbrakes Bagnaia in turn one. Martin is now in the lead ahead of Morbidelli and Bagnaia, followed by Alex Marquez, Oliveira and Marc Marquez.
Fabio Di Giannantonio comes into the pits with technical problems.
13th round: Morbidelli is creeping up on leader Martin, the gap is now just over three tenths of a second.
15th round: Bagnaia overtakes Morbidelli again in the penultimate corner to take second place. Morbidelli had made a mistake earlier. Bagnaia is now in second place, a good second behind Martin.
16th round: Marc Marquez overtakes Oliveira in Turn 1 – fifth place goes to Marquez.
17th round: Alex Marquez has overtaken Morbidelli into third place.
22nd round: Morbidelli goes wide in turn one, Marc Marquez cuts through on the inside lane. There is a collision and Marquez almost falls. Part of the fairing on Marquez’s Gresini Ducati also breaks off and Marquez’s airbag goes off. Morbidelli stays in front, Marquez even has to let Bastianini pass for a short time, but is eventually able to defend this position. Morbidelli in 4th, Marquez in 5th, Bastianini in 6th.
25th round: Marc Marquez squeezes past Morbidelli in the final corner. This time the maneuver works and Marquez is fourth.
29th round: Martin has crashed! He sank his Ducati in the gravel of Turn 1. Bagnaia is in the lead! Unbelievable!
Marc Marquez overtakes brother Alex into second place.
30th and final round: Bagnaia doesn’t let anything burn anymore.
Goal: Bagnaia wins with a lead of 3.804 seconds over Marc Marquez. Alex Marquez completes the podium. Bastianini comes fourth, Morbidelli ensures a Ducati five-fold victory. Oliveira comes sixth ahead of Acosta, Bezzecchi and Binder. Raul Fernandez finishes in tenth place, followed by Quartararo, Vinales and Miller. The last points go to Augusto Fernandez and Nakagami. Stefan Bradl comes 18th.
