The result: Martin was 0.237 seconds faster than Pedro Acosta in 1:31.421 minutes. Maverick Vinales was third ahead of a Ducati trio of Enea Bastianini, Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez. Aleix Espargaro finished P8 ahead of Brad Binder. Marc Marquez came ninth, Marco Bezzecchi completed the top ten.
Fabio Quartararo didn’t finish higher than 20th at his home race.
Falls, defects & incidents: Fabio Quartararo came off the track in turn seven in the final phase of practice but was able to avoid a crash. Pedro Acosta made a spectacular save a little later in turn 6.
The only crash of the session was caused by Brad Binder, who threw his KTM into the gravel trap at turn eleven in the last minute.
The weather: In the often rainy Le Mans, the MotoGP stars were welcomed on Friday morning by bright sunshine and a pleasant outside temperature of 19 degrees. The asphalt reached 28 degrees.
