Gotta get out of this hole!

The Catalonia GP was the most difficult weekend so far for Moto3 rookie Noah Dettwiler. At no point was he even close to scoring points. There are no excuses.

Six race weekends of the Moto3 have been completed and Noah Dettwiler is still only on the two points he secured in Austin. In Barcelona, the young Swiss rider was not even thinking about scoring anything. The CIP Green Power rider himself admits that he was way off the mark.

“I didn’t feel comfortable. The timing wasn’t right. I just couldn’t get it together this weekend,” the 19-year-old analyzed bluntly. Starting 24th in qualifying, well over two seconds behind, the next setback followed in the race. In 21st place, he lost over 40 seconds to race winner David Alonso.

He doesn’t want to accept excuses. He didn’t accept the fact that the asphalt in Barcelona offers extremely little grip as an explanation: “No, that wasn’t the problem.” Especially since this also applies to all Moto3 riders. Things didn’t go well at the Catalonia Grand Prix from the start: “I had an early crash in free practice and then never got a good feeling all weekend.”

But he should find that feeling again as soon as possible so that the points from Austin are not the only ones. Dettwiler sees the fact that Mugello follows after just one week as a positive: “We have to start again and get out of this hole we are in at the moment.” At least compared to the Hondas, he should have an advantage with his KTM on the long straights of the Italian cult track.
