Francesco Bagnaia is not going to let penalties stop him in Mugello! The MotoGP world champion had hindered Alex Marquez in training and was moved to fifth place for the main race. After just two corners, Bagnaia is back in the lead and does not give it up until the chequered flag. Jorge Martin is Bagnaia’s closest pursuer over the entire race distance, but he is overtaken by Enea Bastianini in the last corner. Bagnaia and Bastianini thus ensure an Italian double victory in the Italian GP. Martin comes third ahead of Marc Marquez.
In the World Championship, Bagnaia is once again making up a lot of ground on Martin. He is now only 18 points behind. Marc Marquez is 35 points behind the World Championship lead.
