Rain was already a major factor in Formula 1 in Montreal. This time, the Spanish GP may not show its sunny side. There is a slight chance of precipitation in almost every session. There is a particularly high probability that rain will reach the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on race day.
Friday (FP1 and FP2):
Already on media Thursday, some drivers pulled out their umbrellas on the way to their interviews. On Friday, however, the track should remain drier. The first free practice session at 1:30 p.m. is forecast to be mostly sunny. The temperature will be a warm, but not unpleasantly hot, 24 degrees. However, rain cannot be completely ruled out during the session. The probability is just under 15 percent.

In FP2 (5:00 p.m.) clouds are gathering, but the sun can occasionally shine through. It remains warm with a light wind from the southeast. At the start of the second free practice session, the chance of rain is ten percent. However, this decreases steadily during the session, which should promise a dry track.
Saturday (FP3 and Qualifying):
Things will continue in a similar way on Saturday. The third free practice session (12:30) in Spain is set to take place in 25 degrees and sunshine. Umbrellas and rain tires will probably not be used. The probability of precipitation is almost zero.
For qualifying at 4 p.m., the warm 25 degrees will remain and it will remain sunny. With only a 10 percent chance of rain, a dry track is expected. Nevertheless, the weather could be uncomfortable for the F1 drivers at times. Strong gusts of wind from the southeast are forecast.
Sunday (race):
Sunday will be the wettest day of the entire F1 weekend. There is already a high risk that the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be hit by rain in the morning. In some places the probability of precipitation is as high as 70 percent. This decreases by the start of the race, but is still just under 50 percent at 3 p.m. when the cars start their engines.
Rain or not, there will be no sign of sunny Spain on Sunday. The sky is covered in clouds and the temperature is falling. The race will take place in a comparatively cool 22 degrees. However, strong gusts of wind like the day before are not to be expected.
It’s not just the weather that’s going to be exciting in Barcelona. This weekend, the question is whether Red Bull will regain its old dominance and who will be in the fight for the top spot. You can read all the hot topics for the Spanish Grand Prix here:
