For Noah Dettwiler, the weekend at the Dutch TT in Assen was not a successful one. In qualifying, the stewards penalized him and several other riders for dawdling in traffic. In addition, the legendary track in the Netherlands simply did not have the pace to keep up with the riders in the points. The Moto3 rookie himself acknowledges this.
After the stewards had given the Swiss a long lap penalty for the race, Dettwiler started the 20-lap Grand Prix with a handicap. He was unable to fight his way further forward in the race. Tom Lüthi’s protégé finished 23rd and lost almost 50 seconds to race winner Ivan Ortola. This meant he was more than two seconds behind per lap.

Dettwiler’s conclusion about the Dutch TT is accordingly sobering. “It was a very, very difficult weekend for me. I couldn’t get a better feeling from Saturday morning onwards,” admitted the 19-year-old. “I didn’t manage a good qualifying. The long lap penalty didn’t make the race any better either.”
Now the CIP driver wants to put the eighth race of the season behind him quickly. “I’m obviously very disappointed, but we have to put this weekend behind us and still take the positives with us,” says Dettwiler combatively. “It’s not an easy situation at the moment, but luckily the next race is only a few days away. Hopefully things will go better at the Sachsenring.
He is in 24th place in the drivers’ championship. The newcomer scored his only two World Championship points so far in Texas, where he achieved his best result of 14th place.
