Europe’s strongest GT series ready for the annual Nürburgring race

The expected field of 55 cars will include nine manufacturers, including leading German brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche. It will be the ninth time that the series has visited the 5.1 km Nürburgring GP circuit.

This year, high-performance vehicles from Aston Martin, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini and McLaren will also be on the grid, with each manufacturer being able to field at least one pro vehicle. The driver list reads like a who’s who of motorsport, including Raffaele Marciello, Valentino Rossi and Marco Wittmann (BMW), Maro Engel and Jules Gounon (Mercedes-AMG), Alessandro Pier Guidi (Ferrari), Mirko Bortolotti (Lamborghini) and Christopher Mies (Ford).

A Fanatec GT Europe race offers little respite as victory is also hotly contested in the Gold Cup, Silver Cup and Bronze Cup classes. Every car on track complies with GT3 regulations, with the composition of the crew determining which class they race in.

In addition to the Fanatec GT Europe, there is an extensive supporting programme with GT and Formula championships. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo brings a strong field of Italian super sports cars, while the McLaren Trophy Europe follows the same concept with models such as the Artura Trophy and the 570S Trophy.

The FFSA F4 French Championship is a breeding ground for young drivers, with Theo Pourchaire among its successful graduates, and the GT1 Sports Club Powered by Curbstone allows visitors to experience some of the world’s most spectacular supercars, including past models such as the Pagani Huayra and McLaren Senna.

The event begins on Friday 26 July and runs throughout the weekend, culminating in the three-hour Fanatec GT Europe Endurance Cup race starting at 15:00 CEST on Sunday 28 July.
