Ai Ogura celebrates his first Moto2 victory since the 2022 Japanese GP in Barcelona! The Japanese rider stays cool in a crazy race and catches MT Helmets teammate Sergio Garcia a few laps before the end, who is able to extend his World Championship lead by finishing second. Fermin Aldeguer leads for a long time, but then receives a long lap penalty and crashes while completing it. Jake Dixon completes the podium and thus scores his first World Championship points in 2024.

Begin: Sergio Garcia is able to defend the lead, followed by Albert Arenas and Ai Ogura in turn one. Fermin Aldeguer is fourth ahead of Celestino Vietti and Alonso Lopez. Aron Canet got off to a bad start and dropped to eighth place. At the back of the field there was a crash after contact between Joe Roberts, Izan Guevara and Somkiat Chantra, and the last two crashed.
1 round: Aldeguer immediately recovers and passes Ogura again, and a short time later he also successfully attacks Arenas. Ayumu Sasaki crashes in turn four.
2nd round: Aldeguer takes the lead after Garcia goes a bit wide in Turn 10. A little later, Daniel Munoz and Diogo Moreira crash independently of each other at the same spot.
3rd round: Garcia regains the lead in the first corner, but only briefly, as Aldeguer counters again in turn 10.
4th round: Garcia’s next attack in turn one, this time without success. Behind him, Lopez displaces Vietti from fourth place, and in turn 10, Ogura also overtakes the KTM-Ajo rider.
Another crash in turn 10: Manuel Gonzalez is the one who got it.
6th round: Aldeguer is serious and pulls away. Garcia can follow him more or less, but the rest lose contact. Lopez and Ogura react immediately and overtake Arenas. This gives Boscoscuro a four-way lead!
Tony Arbolino receives a long lap penalty for taking a shortcut in turn two. The MarcVDS driver is only in 18th place anyway.
7th round: Canet and Vietti are engaged in a tough duel for sixth place, which the Spaniard is ultimately able to win.
9th round: Long lap penalty now also for Deniz Öncü after he violated the track limits too often.
10th round: Aldeguer and Garcia are in a league of their own, they are already two seconds ahead of their pursuers Lopez and Ogura. The best Kalex machines of Arenas, Canet, Vietti and Senna Aguis are a further 1.5 seconds behind.
11th round: Ogura displaces Lopez from third place, Canet and Vietti pass Arenas for fifth and sixth places.
12th round: Arenas continues to back up, Agius is now past too. Jake Dixon is also lurking behind him.
13th round: Dixon has already overtaken Arenas. Meanwhile, Canet is making great strides towards Lopez and fourth place.
Vietti is the next victim in turn 10, he also crashes! Agius had pushed him out of sixth place shortly before.
14th round: It remains action-packed: Cante takes fourth place from Lopez, while Agius receives a long lap penalty. He also disregarded the track limits too often.
And then the leader Aldeguer also receives a long lap penalty because he too was outside the track limits too often.
15th round: Drama for Aldeguer! He immediately turns into the long lap and crashes!
The next crash of a top pilot! Canet flew off in turn five. Garcia is now in the lead ahead of Ogura, Lopez, Dixon, Arenas and Agius.
16th round: While Ogura gets closer and closer to teammate Garcia, Roberts also receives a long lap penalty for violating the track limits.
18th round: Change of leadership! Ogura flies past Garcia on the start/finish line. Dixon has also overtaken Lopez in the battle for the last podium spot.
19th round: Lopez is now breaking down. Within a few corners, Arenas, Agius and Jeremy Alcoba also overtake him.
21st and final round: While the top three have been decided, Alcoba, Agius and Arenas are still fighting hard for fourth place.
Finish line: Ogura wins a crazy Moto2 race in Barcelona! Garcia completes the MT Helmets double victory and extends his World Championship lead. Dixon collects his first World Championship points of the year in third place, followed by Alcoba in fourth place ahead of Agius and Arenas. Marcos Ramirez follows in seventh place, and Lopez ultimately only comes eighth.
Zonta van den Goorbergh and Arbolino complete the top ten. Roberts is eleventh, followed by Jorge Navarro and Filip Salac. The last World Championship points go to Jaume Masia and Darryn Binder.
