A total of 130 cars will be at the start of the 24h Nürburgring in 2024. The participants in the race will once again cover a wide range this year. At the top of the Starting list: Of course, GT3 teams from seven manufacturers with a high density of factory drivers, many with ambitions of overall victory. But there are also exciting drivers and teams in the smaller classes.

Large Nürburgring line-up from Mercedes & favorite Porsche
After strong results in the NLS races and the 24h qualifiers, the six GT3 Porsches are considered hot contenders for victory at the 24h Nürburgring. In addition to well-known and proven participants such as Falken and Manthey, Dinamic, Lionspeed and Renauer are also taking part. In addition to Porsche, Mercedes is also providing six GT3 cars, four of them from HRT/Bilstein and Getspeed in the Pro classification.
BMW is bringing three cars into the race with ROWE and RMG, but they are heavily staffed with factory drivers. The former Phoenix team Scherer Sport PHX is flying the Audi flag in the Pro classification with two Audi R8 LMS GT3s, even though the manufacturer is no longer providing factory support this year. Nevertheless, the two Audis are manned by the remaining factory drivers and top returnees. A third Audi from Juta Racing is starting in the Pro-Am classification.
Last year’s Nürburgring winner Ferrari as a lone fighter
The field of non-German manufacturers is thinner. Only one Ferrari, that of defending champion Frikadelli Racing, can be found on the starting list this year. However, as in the previous year, Italy will also be represented by the Abt Lamborghini, this year with a striking Red Bull design and the same strong driver trio (Kelvin van der Linde, Jordan Pepper, Marco Mapelli). An older Lamborghini Huracan GT3 will be used by Konrad Motorsport.
This year, Aston Martin has the strongest exotic contingent, after the Walkenhorst team switched to the Vantage GT3 model in 2024. One of them is definitely a car with a top line-up, with Nicki Thiim, David Pittard, Kuba Giermaziak and Christian Krognes. Finally, there are the returnees from Glickenhaus, who will compete in the SP-X class with the SCG 004c.
Greats from DTM and Nürburgring history meet in 2024
Away from the top cars, this year’s 24h Nürburgring promises to be just as exciting. After all, not all the big names can be found in the top SP9 class. Timo Scheider and Timo Glock are racing together for the first time in the BMW M4 GT4 #145. In the SP10 class, they will face the female quartet in the M4 #146 from Giti Tire (Schreiner/Wohlwend/Visser/Mann) and the M4 #150 from Team Bilstein with three YouTubers (Broadbent/Brown/Charoudin/Metzger).
With his 46th start in the 52nd edition, Volker Strycek will also be back in 2024. But not in the Fuchsschwanz-Manta, which only competes in the 24h Classic. Strycek starts in the Seat Cupra Leon #496 in the VT2 Front class. Also in the SP10 GT4 class is David Schumacher, son of ex-F1 driver Ralf, in the Mercedes #111. Fabian Vettel, brother of F1 world champion Sebastian, in the KTM X-Bow GT2 #55 in the SP11 class.
