Race Facts: Preview Race 17

The 17th stop of the 2024 regular season is the Iowa Speedway. It is the only completely new track on the NASCAR calendar. The top NASCAR league will be visiting the 0.875-mile oval in Newton, Iowa, for the first time on June 17, 2024. It is a floodlit race on American Father’s Day. Sport1+ will show the race live from Sunday to Monday from 00:30 CEST.

The track was developed in collaboration with NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace and is modeled on the Richmond Raceway. The 0.875 mile (1.4 km) long short track has a corner elevation of twelve to 14 degrees. On the start-finish straight it is ten degrees and just four degrees. The race is divided into three stages of 70, 140 and a final 140 laps. The total distance is 240 laps (210 miles) with a spectator capacity of 30,000.

Starting list with driver change for the 17th race of the season in Iowa

37 drivers have been registered by the teams for the 17th race of the season at the Iowa Speedway. This means that for the 15th time this season there will not be a full starting field of 40 drivers. One open team is on the entry list and is therefore eligible to start.

There were no driver changes in the 36 charter teams.

The only open team in the debut race at Iowa Speedway is Power Source. After Martinsville, David Starr will be starting in the Cup for the second time with the #66.

Driver Ranking 16/2024

Top 20 after the 16th race of the 2024 season at Sonoma Raceway

Motorsport-Magazin.com After each race, the current form of all NASCAR drivers is determined based on the results of the last six races.

For the fourth time in a row, there is a new number one in our ranking. Denny Hamlin lost the top position after retiring on lap three at Sonoma Raceway. Gibbs Toyota teammate Christopher Bell is the new leader. Bell was last in first place last year after race 33. Brad Keselowski remains second ahead of Chase Elliott, Tyler Reddick and Sonoma winner Kyle Larson.

Michael McDowell was able to improve by twelve positions and thus made a comeback into the top 20. Previously, he had not been represented in the rankings for eight races. Kyle Busch is also back. Defending champion Ryan Blaney gained six places.

Rookie Carson Hocevar replaced rookie Josh Berry in the top 20 for the second time. In addition to Berry, Noah Gragson and Chase Briscoe also dropped out of the rankings.
