Race Facts: Preview Race 14
The 14th stop of the 2023 regular season is Charlotte Motor Speedway. The second night race of the regular season starts on the night of Sunday to Monday from 00:19 a.m. CEST. The racing program takes place during Memorial Weekend with the holiday on Monday.
The Coca-Cola event is the longest race of the season at 600 miles. This makes it the only race with three stages instead of the usual two. Extra and bonus points are awarded after 100, 200 and 300 of 400 laps if the drivers achieve a top 10 placement.
The venue for the night race is the 1.5-mile-long Charlotte Motor Speedway, built in 1959. Since the 1960 season, there have been two races per year. However, since the 2018 season, the second race has been held on the so-called Roval track. The quad oval is located in Concord in the US state of North Carolina, north of Charlotte. The first night races, introduced in the 1992 season, were held on the superspeedway. Due to the corona pandemic, there was another race over 500 kilometers in 2020, in the middle of the week from Wednesday to Thursday.

The speedway owes its nickname ‘The Beast of the Southeast’ to turn four before the start and finish, as the drivers there often cannot avoid contact with the wall. Accordingly, there are eyes painted on the gang, waiting for their next ‘victim’. Banking in the corners is 24 degrees and the two straights have a bank of five degrees. To date there have been 125 races on the oval and six races on the road course in Concord.
Fuel window: 60-64 rounds
Goodyear Tire Notes: 12 sets of tyres (+1 set/qualifying)
Victory Lane: The last pole setters, winners & record winners at the Charlotte Motor Speedway
There have been seven different winners since 2018. Ryan Blaney won the marathon race last year and later became champion. The active record winner is Martin Truex Junior with three victories ahead of Brad Keselowski, who celebrated twice in Victory Lane. Three of the last six Pole Awards were won by William Byron, although he has never won a race.

Driver Ranking 13/2024
Top 20 after the 13th race of the 2024 season in Darlington
Motorsport-Magazin.com After each race, the current form of all NASCAR drivers is determined based on the results of the last six races.
Kyle Larson remains our number one for the third consecutive year. The Hendrick driver is top of the ranking for the fourth time this season – that’s a new record this year. Teammate Chase Elliott remains second ahead of Gibbs Toyota driver Denny Hamlin.
After a long dry spell of 110 races without a win, Brad Keselowski won in the RFK Ford in Darlington. This victory catapulted the team co-owner from 13th place to fourth. Ty Gibbs gained eight positions and is the second big winner after the race in the ‘Lady in Black’.
Rookie Rosh Berry moved up to 17th place after his best performance of the season. The losers of the 13th race were Kyle Busch, the unlucky Chris Buescher and defending champion Ryan Blaney.
