KARACHI: Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi, the Consul General of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Karachi, delivered a heartfelt appeal to philanthropists and donors in Pakistan, urging them to extend wholehearted support to genuine charities actively involved in educating children from underprivileged backgrounds. Speaking at an iftar dinner hosted at the Karachi Golf Club, the Consul General seized the opportunity to shed light on the remarkable achievements of the non-profit organization, Al-Furqan Welfare Organization, in providing education to children from disadvantaged communities.

Mr. Al Remeithi emphasized that the charitable organizations dedicated to the education sector were true allies in the service of Pakistan, as the nation’s progress and development could only be realized by effectively addressing the issue of out-of-school children. He encouraged prospective donors to generously contribute to reputable charities like Al-Furqan, recognizing that education plays a pivotal role in empowering the next generation from less privileged areas to support their families, overcome poverty, and serve the country in the most impactful manner.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of Al-Furqan Welfare Organization, the UAE Consul General commended their efforts in combating illiteracy in Pakistan, which affects numerous destitute families. Faryal Asif, the President of Al-Furqan Welfare Organization, shared the organization’s humble beginnings, revealing that it started twelve years ago with a small one-room charitable school catering to only sixteen children. Expressing gratitude to the concerned donors and supporters, she highlighted the significant progress achieved through their contributions, enabling the establishment of fourteen schools in Karachi. These schools now provide quality education to over 2,500 students from underprivileged families.
Faryal Asif appealed to philanthropists and donors to continue their unwavering support for Al-Furqan schools, emphasizing that their initiatives extend beyond education to address the nutritional, healthcare, and vocational training needs of their students. She informed the audience about the organization’s success in securing support from two donor organizations committed to sponsoring higher education for students who graduate from Al-Furqan schools, thereby empowering them to become productive members of Pakistani society. Asif expressed her determination to expand the network of Al-Furqan schools, with the ultimate goal of enrolling thousands more out-of-school children in deprived areas across the country.
The impassioned plea by the UAE Consul General and the inspiring efforts of Al-Furqan Welfare Organization underscore the critical importance of supporting genuine charities that focus on educating underprivileged children in Pakistan. By contributing to these noble causes, philanthropists and donors have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of disadvantaged children, paving the way for a brighter and more equitable future for all.
