Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s School of Visual and Performing Arts hosted the Graphic Design Thesis Display 2024 at the Art School building. The event was inaugurated by the Provincial Minister for Culture, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, and the President of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah. Renowned artist Shahid Rasam and faculty members from the art school were also present to witness the students’ innovative work.
A Showcase of Talent and Creativity
The thesis display featured a wide variety of projects, including web design, typography, web games, and other creative expressions. During his visit, Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah expressed his admiration for the students’ creativity, highlighting the immense talent and potential in the youth. “Their future is bright, and they will lead in shaping tomorrow,” Shah remarked, noting that the students’ work reflects a positive outlook on the future.
He emphasized the importance of continuing such exhibitions to promote and encourage young artists. Shah also acknowledged the strong relationship between the Arts Council and the Sindh government, praising the efforts of Muhammad Ahmed Shah for organizing such significant cultural events.
World Culture Festival Announcement
In an exciting announcement, President Muhammad Ahmed Shah revealed that the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi will collaborate with the Sindh government to launch the 35-day World Culture Festival in Karachi, starting on September 26, 2024. The festival will feature representatives from 40 countries, including the USA, Turkey, Palestine, Italy, Iraq, India, and many more, showcasing the cultural diversity of the world.
Shah shared that security measures have been completed, and Karachi is being beautifully decorated in preparation for the festival. Posters promoting the event are being displayed across the city, and a health desk will be set up at the airport by the Sindh Health Department to ensure health screenings for arriving guests. International doctors will also be on hand to provide care for the artists attending the festival.
A Positive Outlook for Karachi
Shah expressed his optimism, stating, “The World Culture Festival will present a positive image of Pakistan and bring joy to the public.” He also emphasized the significant role of media in promoting cultural activities and stressed the importance of covering such events to uplift spirits in challenging times. The festival will feature performances by students from various Pakistani universities, offering a mix of dance, theatre, and music.
A Platform for Emerging Designers
The Graphic Design Thesis Display features impressive works by students such as Arshad Khan, Syed Sajjad Abdi, Afrah Sajad, Mubashir Hussain, Muhammad Yousaf, and several others. Each student has put significant effort into their projects, demonstrating a wide range of artistic skills and creative visions.
The display will continue on the second floor of the Art School building at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi until September 21, 2024, providing the public with an opportunity to view the exceptional work of these emerging artists.
