New Delhi: Suniel Shetty is known for his macho image, comic timing and films like Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri, Awara Pagal Deewana, One Two Three, De Dhana Dhan. The superstar was recently in the news for his role in the third part of the Welcome series, titled Welcome to the Jungle. Then there were reports that he has replaced Sanjay Dutt, who had opted out of the film and now Jackie Shroff is playing the role that Suniel Shetty was supposed to play.
Now, a source has shared with us TOI details about what exactly happened. The source told ETimes, “With Hera Pheri and Awara sequels planned, they had specifically chosen the role for Welcome which is finally being done by Jackie Shroff. When Sanjay Dutt left the film, Ahmed and Feroz Nadiadwala approached Sunil sir and asked him if he could play Dutt’s beloved don. And given his old friendship and deep love for Feroz, Sunil agreed. In fact, Sunil sir even took permission from old friend Sanjay Dutt if he had any problem in taking up the role and only when he agreed, Sunil sir went ahead with the role.”
ET’s source also added that Sunil is not only excited about his role which is extremely challenging but is also excited about Jackie Shroff’s entry as that particular role is full of swag and glamour and this role should have gone to Jackie first. Let us tell you that the film has a huge star cast ranging from Akshay Kumar to Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Disha Patani, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and many others.
