Udit Narayan spent 4 months in confusion, missed a big opportunity, on knowing Karan Johar’s name he said- ‘It is my mistake’

Mumbai. Singer Udit Narayan missed a big opportunity. He inadvertently missed the song ‘Dekha Tenu’ from Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor starrer film ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’. The makers had contacted him to sing this song, but there was confusion and the song was missed. He regrets this too. While talking to News18, he told that the makers had waited for him for 4 months. The song ‘Dekha Tenu’ includes some lines from the superhit song ‘Shava Shava’ from ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, which Udit Narayan sang as a chorus.

Other parts of the song ‘Dekha Tenu’ from ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’ have been written by Ustad Jani. Udit Narayan confessed that he was asked to sing the recreated version but he put off the offer for 4 months. Udit said that he did not know that the song was being recreated for a Karan Johar production.

‘Dekha Tenu’ was released earlier this month. The song was sung by Mohammad Faiz. Udit Narayan said, “It is my mistake. They were going to make me sing this song, it is true. They contacted me and waited for four months.” He said that there was a misunderstanding due to which he could not sing the song of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’.

Udit Narayan said, “I was told that this song is being recreated for Rajkumar Rao’s film. The only mistake was that the person who called me was not making it clear that I have to recreate the same song that was sung. He did not even tell me that this is Karan Johar’s film. I thought that this is some novice musician who is recreating it. I did not pay attention.”

Udit Narayan said, “I am very honest, this is my mistake. There was confusion and I also did not know. But I remember they were waiting for me, they wanted me to be a part of the song. If I had been told clearly, I would not have left this song.”
