The superstar who gives films worth two thousand crores in a year, avoids being called a romantic hero, said- ‘Fit in the template…’

New Delhi. Shah Rukh Khan recently became the only star to win the top prize at the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. Bollywood’s iconic star Shah Rukh Khan said that as an audience, he wants to work in all kinds of films. But he says that he does not want to fit into any mold.

The actor, popularly known as the King of Romance, won the Pardo alla carriera award at the Locarno Film Festival for his contribution to cinema and opened up about his transition to the action genre. Shah Rukh told Variety that he is surprised to be called a romantic hero and honestly, he has never cast himself in such a mould.

Not wanting to fit into a template
Shahrukh said, ‘I was sitting with director Aditya Chopra, who started his career with ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. Aditya told me that if we count, you have done about five or six romantic films which are considered classic romantic. I think I agree with him, but it is also true that I am kept in the same category. He further said that I do not want to be limited to any one genre. I like watching action films. Strangely, I like romantic films the least. I like science-fiction films, dystopian world films, off-beat, human drama films.’

Gave two 1000 crore earning films in one year
The year 2013 proved to be a lifesaver for Shah Rukh Khan. ‘Jawaan’ proved to be the record-breaking first and highest opening film of 2013. The films that came after this could not even touch the records broken by ‘Jawaan’. The movie crossed the figure of 650 crores in domestic collection and 1100 crores in worldwide collection. In this sense, Shah Rukh became the only actor to give two 1000 crore films in a year.

Let us tell you that in a conversation with Variety, Shahrukh also revealed what kind of work he wants to do in the future. He said, ‘I like courtroom dramas. I like thrillers. I also like horror films sometimes. I felt that I have not done any action film for a long time. I like Tom Cruise’s films. ‘Mission Impossible’ is a film where you do not have to worry, you come back completely satisfied.’
