New Delhi: India’s favourite entertainment platform Prime Video has released the amazing trailer of its new original docuseries ‘Angry Young Man’. This three-part series is based on the life and career of the famous writer duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, popularly known as Salim-Javed. In the 1970s, Salim-Javed completely changed Indian cinema by bringing the ‘Angry Young Man’ hero to Bollywood. They shifted focus from romance to action-drama, which became very popular. Produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media and Entertainment and Tiger Baby, ‘Angry Young Man’ is executive produced by Salma Khan, Salman Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. Director Namrata Rao is making her debut with this. “Angry Young Man” will premiere on Prime Video on August 20 in India and more than 240 countries. This is the latest show available to Prime members.
The trailer of the documentary series showcases the heartwarming and inspiring story of Salim-Javed. It takes the audience into the world of Bollywood they created and shows their iconic films like Deewar, Don, Sholay, Trishul and Dostana that have greatly influenced Indian cinema. The documentary series traces their journey from humble beginnings to becoming renowned screenwriters. It includes rare old footage that shows their personal life, friendship and their creativity in the 24 films they did together. The documentary also features loving comments from stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Hema Malini, Helen, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan as they reveal how Salim-Javed have influenced their careers.
Salim Javed became a writer from an actor
Salim Khan says, “I started my career as an actor, but found that my true strength was in storytelling. So, I decided to focus on writing, which came more naturally to me. I met Javed, who was passionate about writing, and together we created some great work that I am very proud of. We had a successful journey and challenged the norms of the industry. It is great that our story is being recorded for generations to come. I hope it inspires people to do their best and not back down from the limitations of society. Javed Akhtar says, “When I came to this city as a young man, I had no job, no contacts and no money, and I would often go to bed hungry. Despite this, I never gave up.
