The film is about two criminals, Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jai (Amitabh Bachchan), who are hired by a retired police officer (Sanjeev Kumar) to capture the brutal dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan). Hema Malini and Jaya Bhaduri also play the roles of Veeru and Jai’s love interests (Basanti and Radha) and the music of the film was composed by R.D. Burman.
This film was a hit in theaters as soon as it was released and was not even the highest grossing film of the year 1975.
