Mumbai. Today is the 95th birth anniversary of actor-singer Kishore Kumar. On this occasion, we are telling you a story related to his second marriage. Kishore first married Bengali actress and singer Ruma Ghosh in 1950. Both got divorced after just 8 years of marriage. The reason for this was considered to be Madhubala, famous as The Beauty of Tragedy Queen. Madhubala worked with Kishore in ‘Dhak Ke Mahal’ in the year 1956. Both met for the first time on the set of this film.

While working with Madhubala, Kishore Kumar came to know about her heart disease. Even after knowing about the disease, he proposed Madhubala for marriage. However, Kishore’s parents were not ready for this marriage because Madhubala was a Muslim. Her real name was Mumtaz Jahan Dehlavi. Kishore’s parents did not want him to marry a girl of another religion.

Kishore Kumar married Madhubala in the year 1960. Madhubala was 27 years old at that time. Even after becoming Kishore’s wife, his family did not accept Madhubala. Kishore bought a flat on Carter Road in Bandra for his wife. The actress who thought of living happily with Kishore had something else in her fate.

After marrying Kishore, Madhubala’s condition started deteriorating. Seeing her illness worsening, Kishore hired a nurse to take care of her. Madhubala lived alone in this flat and Kishore stopped visiting her. Gradually Kishore would visit her only two or three times a month. The reason for this, he later told, was that whenever Kishore visited her, Madhubala would cry on seeing him.

Kishore Kumar used to meet Madhubala only twice a month so that she does not feel sad. Madhubala died when she was just 36 years old. After Madhubala’s death, he married actress Yogita Bali in 1976 and they got divorced after 2 years. Two years later, i.e. in 1980, he married Leena Chandavkar.
