New Delhi: On Sunday, June 2, officials stopped former MLA and actor Karunas from boarding a flight at Chennai International Airport in Tamil Nadu. After checking the actor’s bag, the officials were surprised. They immediately confiscated the actor’s bag and started questioning him. Actually, 40 bullets were recovered from Karunas’ bag. The officials then started trying to find out why the actor had kept 40 live cartridges in his bag.

According to media reports, the officials said that when they checked the actor’s bag, they found 40 bullets of 32 caliber in two boxes. When the officials questioned him in this regard, he told that he has valid documents to keep the bullets. He has a handgun, which he has kept for his safety.

Karunas said that when the ‘Code of Conduct’ was in force during the elections, he had followed the rules and deposited the gun in a police station near his residence in Dindigul district. However, 40 live cartridges were inadvertently left in his bag. To confirm his statement, he showed the officials the documents of the gun deposited in the police station.

The officials found all the documents correct and told him that carrying bullets inside the flight is prohibited. They returned the MLA’s bag and asked him to return. Talking about Karunas’ career, before becoming an MLA, he had made his mark as an actor, comedian, composer and playback singer.
