Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married recently. Now in an interview, the couple has shared how they discussed their wedding plans with Sonakshi’s father Shatrughan Sinha.

We became friends in no time: Zaheer
Talking to TOI about this, Zaheer said, ‘When I went to Sonakshi’s house, I was very nervous because I had never spoken to her father face-to-face before.

However, when we started talking to each other, we became friends in no time. I told him that I also want to ask Sonakshi about marriage. In that meeting, I found him very honest and calm. He is a very sweet person.

Even before the marriage, Shatrughan had come to meet Zaheer and his family.

While talking about this, Sonakshi said, ‘When I told Papa about us, I was also very nervous. I did not know how he would react. I went to talk to him being very cool.

I said to him, ‘Are you not worried about my marriage? Because you haven’t talked to me about it yet.’

He replied that he had talked to my mother about this. Then I told him that there is a boy named Zaheer in my life. He said- ‘Yes, I had also read about this.’

Papa has always been supportive: Sonakshi
Sonakshi further said, ‘Then papa said that you people have grown up and when the husband and wife agree then what can the Qazi do? I thought that wow this was so easy. I felt that papa is so chilled out and cool. He has been very supportive about our relationship.

‘He looks strong from outside, but is soft from inside’
Before Sonakshi and Zaheer’s marriage, there was a discussion that neither Shatrughan Sinha was aware of this marriage nor was he happy with this relationship. But their wedding photos tell something else.

Talking about this, Sonakshi said, ‘Both Papa and Mummy are emotional. Papa looks strong from the outside but he is very soft. He stood beside me the whole time and I know how emotional he was feeling. So I held his hand and said- don’t worry, I am not going anywhere.

Sonakshi’s mother Poonam Sinha also became emotional several times during the wedding.

I talk to my mother twice a day: Sonakshi
When my mother realized that I was finally leaving her house, she became emotional. Now I can go to my house whenever I want. I talk to my mother more than before. Sometimes even twice a day.

Zaheer and Sonakshi had a registered marriage during the day on June 23.

The couple hosted a reception party at a restaurant in Mumbai in the evening.
