New Delhi. Richa Chadha is currently garnering accolades for her web series ‘Heeramandi’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She has once again established herself by playing the character of ‘Lajjo’ in this series. Richa is now going to welcome her first child soon. The actress, who is enjoying her maternity period these days, spoke openly in a recent interview about her marriage with Muslim co-star Ali Fazal and the criticism she faced due to it.
In a recent interview with Galata India, Richa Chadha talked about the criticism she faced for marrying a Muslim actor and said, ‘If you stand firmly with your choice and your family is with you and supports you, then nothing else really matters’. According to the actress, a person is a human first, religion and caste come far behind.
The relationship was kept private because of the family
Richa says, ‘When you are in love, there is no filter in your pursuit. When you fall in love, that’s what happens.’ In this interview, the actress also told that she did not want her family to know about her relationship with Ali Fazal through the media. The actress said, ‘We also have a family. When we were ready to tell our family about our relationship, then we made our relationship public.’
They were seen together for the first time at a film festival
Richa said that she and Ali decided to make their relationship public when she wanted to go with Ali to the premiere of ‘Victoria and Abdul’ at the Venice Film Festival. The actress said, ‘I remember I had to go with Ali as his plus one for the premiere of ‘Victoria and Abdul’ at the Venice Film Festival, I had decided that I would not miss such a big event of his because of the world’.
Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal met on the sets of the film ‘Fukrey’. The couple got married in 2020 during the Corona period and then in 2022 they celebrated their marriage again in the presence of their family and friends.
