‘Rajesh Khanna used to get angry’, Mumtaz made a shocking revelation, said- ‘When I was with Dharmendra or Dev Anand…’

New Delhi. Bollywood’s veteran actress Mumtaz’s onscreen pairing with Rajesh Khanna was a hit. Both of them shined on the silver screen between the 60s and 70s. Amazingly, all the films of Mumtaz and Rajesh Khanna proved to be successful at the box office. Recently, Mumtaz spoke openly about her real life bonding with Rajesh Khanna. Also told that when she used to work with any other hero, Rajesh Khanna used to get angry.

During an interview with Rediff, Mumtaz said, ‘When I used to sign films with heroes like Dharmendraji or Dev Sahab (Dev Anand), he used to get angry. He used to work with other heroines but I never got angry. He must have felt that he had a right over me, but I never felt bad. Actually, he cared for me. He used to care for me.’

Mumtaz said that she was often compared to Rajesh Khanna’s co-star Sharmila Tagore, but there was never any animosity between them. The veteran actress said, ‘I respect her a lot. She is much more educated and talented than me. I started working at the age of 8 and I learned everything while working. Be it Sharmila or any other heroine, I never had time to talk to them. It was God’s blessing that not a single film of mine with Kaka (Rajesh Khanna) flopped, but Sharmilaji’s films have been flops.’

In the year 1990, Mumtaz distanced herself from films. Rajesh Khanna ruled Bollywood in the 1960s and 1970s before Amitabh Bachchan. Rajesh Khanna died in the year 2012.
