Ryan is Dhanush’s second directorial venture after 2017’s Pa Paandi. It is Dhanush’s 50th film in his acting career. In February, his brother Selvaraghavan denied that he had written the film and revealed that he plays an important role in the film. The first look of the film showed Dhanush, Sandeep and Kalidas standing near a food truck and looking into the camera.
