‘Panchayat’ fame actor Pankaj Jha recently accused Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi and director Anurag Kashyap of doing politics.
Calling Anurag spineless, he had alleged that the director had removed him from the film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and given the role of Sultan to Pankaj Tripathi.
Anurag and Pankaj Jha have worked together in many films including ‘Gulaal’ and ‘Black Friday’.
Pankaj Jha had gone to Osho
Now Anurag Kashyap has reacted to his statement. Anurag said in an interview to India Today that Pankaj Jha was not available for the shooting of the film. When he had to start shooting for ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, he had gone to Osho to paint.
The budget was tight, we couldn’t wait for them
Anurag said, ‘I really don’t remember what happened. But one thing is for sure that when we had to start shooting for ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, Pankaj Jha was not available. Our budget was very tight and we couldn’t wait for him. In such a situation, we cast Pankaj Tripathi.
Now Jha must be thinking that after 20 years he could have become Pankaj Tripathi. He might be upset with Pankaj Tripathi becoming very successful.
Pankaj Tripathi was much liked in the role of Sultan in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’.
It is difficult to reach them
In the interview, Anurag further said, ‘I have worked with Jha in many films including ‘Gulaal’ and ‘Black Friday’. He has been my favorite actor. I would love to work with him again but the truth is that it is very difficult to reach him.’

Pankaj Jha has been active in the industry since 2001. He first appeared in Mira Nair’s film ‘Monsoon Wedding’. Apart from this, he has also worked in films like ‘Company’, ‘Haasil’ and ‘Atrangi Re’.
In the recently released season 3 of the web series Panchayat, he is seen in the role of MLA Chandrakishore Singh.
