Born in Mumbai, Amol tried his luck in theater before venturing into acting. In the 1970s, he started rising into prominence through his simple acting. In the 70-80s, he did films one after the other with many big stars, including Sharmila Tagore, Rekha, Parveen Bobby, Shabana Azmi, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Raj Babbar and Sanjeev Kumar.
