Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan starrer film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has been surrounded by controversies 24 days after its release. Former Congress leader and Peethadheeshwar of Shri Kalki Dham Acharya Pramod Krishnam has sent a legal notice to the makers of the film.
In this notice, Acharya Pramod Krishnam has accused the makers of the film of tampering with religious facts and religious books.
Acharya has called the scenes shown in the film fictitious, referring to the incarnation of Lord Shri Kalki recorded in Indian scriptures. He has also appealed to the makers to stop the wrong portrayal.
Acharya Pramod Krishnam said that the film tells a story completely different from our texts.
These are the main points mentioned in the notice
- The film ‘Kalki’ has changed the original concept written and told in the Hindu mythological texts about Lord Kalki.
- Kalki is the tenth incarnation of Lord Vishnu while the film narrates his arrival. For these reasons, the portrayal of the story of Lord Kalki is completely wrong.
- In the 18th verse of the 12th chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran, there is a mention of the birthplace of Lord Shri Kalki and the place where he is to be born. Whereas in the film, Kalki has been shown to have been incarnated through AI technology.
- It is also a blatant disrespect to the sacred texts that are at the core of the religious beliefs and practices of hundreds of millions of devotees.
- Such characters have already created confusion among Hindus and may harm the mythology of Lord Kalki.
My heart was hurt after watching the film: Acharya Krishnam
Talking to ANI about this, Acharya Pramod Krishnam said, ‘No one is allowed to tamper with Sanatan culture. The foundation stone of Kalki Dham in Sambhal has been laid. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself laid the foundation stone of the sanctum sanctorum on February 19.
The way in which the incarnation of Lord Shri Kalki is being shown in the film has hurt my feelings. An attempt is being made to misdirect the message of the Puranas.’

‘Playing with texts has become a pastime for makers’
Acharya further said- ‘The film tells a story completely different from our scriptures. Playing with the emotions of Hindus has become a habit of filmmakers. Saints are portrayed as demons. Freedom of expression does not mean that you can play with our faith.’
Apart from Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan has also appeared in an important role in this film.
Makers will have to reply within 15 days
Supreme Court lawyer Ujjwal Narayan Sharma said that the makers will have to respond to this notice within 15 days. All the people associated with the film who have played with public sentiment will have to apologize. If this does not happen, a suit will be filed in the Supreme Court and a criminal case will be registered.
Ujjwal Narayan Sharma said that notices have been sent to the director of Entertainment and Properties Private Limited, which produced the film, the management of two major OTT platforms, famous South Indian film actors as well as some other companies.
This film has been running in theatres for 25 days and is earning well.
The film earned 600 crores in the country
Nag Ashwin directed film ‘Kalki’ has so far collected more than 1000 crores globally. It has done business of more than 600 crores in the country. This film is close to joining the 300 crore club in Hindi language alone.
