It has been 32 years since the release of the film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, released in 1992. The film starring Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori, Pooja Bedi was a huge hit. The film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar was directed by Aamir Khan’s cousin Mansoor Ali Khan, while its producer was Nasir Khan, Aamir’s uncle. Akshay Kumar auditioned for the supporting role in the film, however he was rejected.

Akshay’s audition was rejected, Deepak Tijori came on Aamir’s recommendation
Deepak Tijori played the role of Shekhar Malhotra in the film. However, before that Akshay Kumar had given audition for this film. Mansoor Khan did not like Akshay’s audition and he was rejected. After this Milind Soman was signed in the film. Milind Soman had also started shooting for the film, but he left the film at the last moment. Initially Deepak Tijori’s audition was also rejected, but later Aamir Khan made him meet Mansoor Khan again and then he was cast in the film.

Juhi Chawla rejected the film
Mansoor Khan wanted to cast Juhi Chawla opposite Aamir Khan in the film. He offered the film to Juhi, but Juhi refused to do the film due to her busy schedule. Similarly, actress Nagma also rejected the film. Later, this film was given to Girija Shettar.
Girija had also started shooting for the film. She had shot the song Jawan Ho Yaaro, but Mansoor Khan was unhappy with her performance. Despite the shooting, he removed Girija Shettar from the film and cast Ayesha Jhulka in her place. However, the song Jawan Ho Yaaro filmed on Girija has been kept.

The plot of the film is similar to a Hollywood film
The plot of the film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar is similar to the 1979 American film Breaking Away. However, Mansoor Khan has told that after making the film, people told him that the story of his and the American film matches. Friendship, cycle race, class barriers and parental relationships are shown in both the films.
Released on 22 May 1992, the film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar proved to be a cult classic. The film received 8 nominations at the Filmfare Awards, out of which the film won in the Best Film and Best Editing categories.
