Jaya’s father did not want Amitabh to be his son-in-law, taunted Harivansh Rai Bachchan, said- ‘My family is ruined’

New Delhi. The Bachchan family is one of the most famous families of Bollywood. Amitabh Bachchan’s father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a well-known poet. Harivansh Rai Bachchan has shared many unheard stories related to his son Amitabh Bachchan’s marriage in his autobiography ‘In the Afternoon of Time’. Amitabh and Jaya, one of Bollywood’s most favorite couples, have completed 51 years of marriage. Unseen pictures of their wedding keep going viral on social media every day. According to a news published in News18 Hindi’s sister website News18 English, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, while referring to Amitabh Bachchan’s marriage in his autobiography, has written that the actor’s wedding was an intimate function. The couple tied the knot in the presence of only a few close ones. According to the late author, Amitabh-Jaya’s wedding took place on the roof of the house of a close friend of the couple.

Only 5 guests attended the wedding, one of whom was the actor’s father and the other was politician Sanjay Gandhi. Harivansh Rai Bachchan writes in the book that his daughter-in-law Jaya Bachchan’s family wanted the wedding to be according to Bengali customs and he had no objection to it. In the book, he has also mentioned that during the entire wedding, no one in Jaya Bachchan’s family was happy except the bride.

Neighbors were not allowed to know about the wedding
Even during the wedding rituals, no one in the bride’s family was excited. All the functions were organised on a very small scale due to which Amitabh’s mother Teji Bachchan was very disappointed. She wanted to celebrate her son’s haldi and wedding with great pomp and show, but it could not happen. She did not even let her neighbours know about the wedding.

Jaya’s father said bitter words
When Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s neighbours asked him about the decorations done in the house, he had to lie to avoid the matter. The author told his neighbours that Amitabh’s film was being shot in the house and that is why the whole house was decorated. While writing about his son’s wedding, he has made some shocking revelations in his book. He writes that after the wedding, when he went to hug his relative (Jaya Bachchan’s father) and congratulate him on the wedding, he said something very bitter to him. He told Harivansh Rai Bachchan, ‘My family is ruined forever’.
