Story of IRS Officer: It is not easy to find time to fulfill your dreams. Especially when you are a high ranking officer in the civil services and the dream is such that it takes years of hard work to fulfill it. Yes, we are going to tell you about one such officer, who did his duty day and night but at night, he used to coordinate with his time and work on fulfilling his dream of making a film. For almost two years, he worked 15-16 hours every day on his government work and making his film and fulfilled his childhood dream. Now this officer has been included in the list of independent filmmakers. This is the story of Anvesh, an officer appointed in the Indian Revenue Service after clearing the Civil Services Examination. Anvesh has made his film ‘Kathakaar Ki Diary – The Tale of Ordinary Lives’.
Born in Azimabad in Balasore district of Odisha, Anvesh is a trained Hindustani classical singer. With a passion for music and a dream of filmmaking, Anvesh did his graduation from Bhatkhande Music Institute, Lucknow. Then in 2013, he cleared the UPSC exam and joined the Indian Revenue Service. Anvesh has also made several music videos and has worked in MX Player’s short film ‘Society’. Apart from this, he also did a small role in Nagesh Kukunoor’s web series ‘City of Dreams’. For the last two years, he was busy fulfilling his dream.
What is the story of this film?
Anvesh told that the story of this film is woven with stories of common people, from tribal people struggling in the forests of Odisha to transgenders struggling to run their households. 2013 batch IRS officer Anvesh has always been inspired by stories related to common people. Therefore, he thought of making the story of the common people with their help and reaching them. This story written by Anvesh has five characters, including a cancer patient, a child, a transgender, a musician and a sports coach. How their lives get entangled and how they work to achieve their goals.
Where was it shot?
Most of the shooting of this film was done in Western Odisha, Mumbai and Pune with local artists and technicians. This film was made at a very low cost and the money for it was also raised by the people. The special thing is that Anvesh has directed the film, given music and also acted in it.
Registered in film festivals of India and abroad
When asked about the film ‘Kathakaar Ki Diary-The Tale of Ordinary Lives’, Anvesh said that this is a people’s film and he is looking at it like a startup. We would not have been able to make this film without the people. We will try to screen the film at IFFI i.e. India International Film Festivals but at the same time some private screenings will also be done. Efforts are on to show it at Toronto Film Festival, Busan Film Festival and Berlin Film Festival.
