Fatima Sana Sheikh got angry on Iraq’s ‘marriage law’, said- ‘Does this even mean anything? Terrible…’

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Fatima Sana Sheikh has reacted to the proposal to reduce the legal age of marriage for girls in Iraq to 9 years. She has called it terrible. Fatima Sana Sheikh shared the link of a news on Instagram Stories and wrote, ‘Iraq is planning to reduce the legal age of marriage for girls from 15 to 9 years. Ugh! Does this even mean anything in any world? This is terrible.’

Actually, a bill has been proposed in the Iraqi Parliament. This bill proposes to reduce the legal age of marriage of girls to 9 years. According to media reports, the purpose of this bill is to amend the country’s Personal Status Law, which currently sets the minimum age for marriage at 18 years. This will allow Iraqi citizens to choose between religious authorities or the civil judiciary to decide on family matters. There is a lot of anger among the people regarding this bill.
