Veteran actress Farida Jalal and late actor Rajesh Khanna entered the film industry at almost the same time. Both were finalists of the same talent show. Recently, Farida recalled her experience of working with Rajesh in the 1969 blockbuster film ‘Aradhana’ during an interview.
Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore played the lead roles in this film, but Farida Jalal played an important role in the film. It was this film that gave Rajesh Khanna the title of ‘Superstar’. Farida has revealed about 55 years after the release of the film that Rajesh Khanna was very arrogant in those days. Due to which there were some fights between the two.

Talking to Bollywood Bubble, she said that after Aradhana, he became ‘The Rajesh Khanna’. During the shooting, I did not pay much attention to him, so he got angry with me. I used to live in my own world. But he was really a very good actor.
used to refuse for rehearsals
Farida says that whenever I asked him to rehearse, he used to say ‘so much rehearsal’? I was very new at that time. I said how can you say this. Even if I need to rehearse 10 times, I will do it. We had a fight over this. Then Sharmila Tagore came in between and defended me.

Farida Jalal also talked about Rajesh Khanna’s stardom. She said- I used to see how people were crazy for him. Girls were falling at his feet. They were all taking autographs from him on their arms and faces. I did not like seeing all this. He would look at me arrogantly and say ‘See?’ I have never seen stardom like his.
Farida Jalal has recently appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series ‘Heeramandi’. She played the character of Kudsia Begum in the series, which was well liked by the people.
